Battles: Math rock made with room for improvisation

Battles is rooted in the irregular time signatures and guitar tapping of math rock, but the experimental trio is constantly pushing sonic boundaries. If they have a sensibility, it's endless curiosity -- the kind that plunks out clusters of notes just to hear their dissonant timbre.
